Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute Founder a Keynote Speaker at 35th Annual Boston International Trauma Conference
Dr. Pat Ogden, founder of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, has been announced as a keynote speaker at the 35th Annual Boston International Trauma Conference in May 2024
Founder of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, Dr. Pat Ogden, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the forthcoming 35th Annual Boston International Trauma Conference hosted by Bessel van der Kolk’s Trauma Resource Foundation – the event will run from May 1st until May 4th.
The conference welcomes both virtual and in-person attendees, with ticketed attendance only. Those participating in person are invited to a new venue for 2024, hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston for the duration of the four-day event.
Bessel van der Kolk says, "I’m delighted to share that Pat Ogden, PhD will be joining us at this year’s Trauma Conference to deliver ‘Divided Mind, Divided Body: Parts work through the lens of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy’.
As a pioneer in somatic psychology, Dr. Ogden is featured in ‘The Body Keeps the Score’ for her work on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy – which helped our field to understand the link between the way that people move and use their bodies, and how their bodies communicate to them internally.
Her compelling keynote will explore the challenges, risks, and rewards of working somatically with internal parts of the self, particularly with complex trauma. With an early focus on yoga – an area that has been amplified significantly in the past decade – we’ll also be running some pre-conference workshops that are particularly relevant to Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Dr. Ogden’s insights for yourself."
Professional Learning Opportunities and Networking at the Boston International Trauma Conference
Throughout the conference, attendees will benefit from presentations, workshops, and discussions led by over 40 of the most renowned trauma experts from around the world, who offer expertise and knowledge about ways to understand and treat trauma.
Dr. Ogden, PhD, joins this body of professional expertise as a leading scholar and educational voice in the modality of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a type of somatic psychological treatment process that is targeted to trauma-related behaviors, emotional responses, and movement patterns.
As a lecturer, consultant, clinician, and author of works including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Interventions for Trauma and Attachment, Trauma and the Body: A Sensorimotor Approach to Psychotherapy, The Pocket Guide to Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in Context, and the recently published Body of Knowledge Card Deck, Dr. Ogden’s next book will be on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and Families, with Dr. Bonnie Goldstein.
Dr. Ogden will present Divided Mind, Divided Body: Parts Work Through the Lens of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy on Friday, May 3, from 11.20 to 12.20 pm EDT. This innovative keynote will illustrate how dissociative parts related to complex trauma can be identified by observing clients' movement patterns. Interventions that draw on the body to heal the wounds of complex trauma will be illustrated with video footage of therapy sessions. The keynote speech will be followed by a panel discussion and questions.
Introducing Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to International Trauma Therapists and Professionals
