Guardian Angel Carers Celebrates Local Home Care Franchises Achieving Best Practice Standards

A UK-wide network of franchise-owned home care services, Guardian Angel Carers, is marking the success of its innovative group structure, with all inspected branches being awarded Good or above by the Care Quality Commission or Care Inspectorate Wales.

Guardian Angel Carers, originally founded in 2012, focuses on quality, person-first, and family-feel care with home-based support that enables individuals, couples, and families to remain independent, safe, and well in the comfort of their own homes.

Care Quality Commission Ratings for Local Home Care Franchises in the Guardian Angel Carers Network

To date, the nationwide network has awarded franchises in 14 locations spanning South Wales, Nottinghamshire, York, Surrey, Berkshire, West Sussex, and Hampshire. Each location is independently owned and managed, with support from the accomplished care specialists and leadership team at the firm’s head offices in Chichester.

The expert knowledge, guidance, and regulatory know-how available are combined with local community-based ownership. This provides care recipients with a fully regulated service that respects and acknowledges personal preferences and provides companionship, kindness, and friendship alongside practical care.

Every branch is registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England or the Care Inspectorate Wales. Most territories have undergone their first inspections, which occur within 12 months of registration.

Of the existing territories, 10 of 14 branches have been formally evaluated as Good, which means:

  • The service is meeting all expectations and performing well.
  • There are no areas in which the service requires improvement.
  • Independent inspectors have assessed the service as good in five areas: safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

Four of the newest branches are pending their first inspection. However, following the pre-defined procedures, policies, recruitment strategies, and compliance regulations implemented across the group provides excellent expectations for further positive inspection outcomes.

The Relevance of Regulatory Inspections for UK Home Care Providers

While there has been contention around the value of ‘one-word’ inspection outcomes in recent months, the importance of regulation is undoubted. It ensures that families can make informed choices about the home care services they trust to care for the well-being and safety of a loved one.

Many families, partners, and children depend on ratings to select the home care agencies they rely on to support an individual or couple who may be older, have limited mobility, be experiencing frailty, or be living with a condition, disability, or health issue that requires professional, warm support.

Looking into the detail of inspection reports is also a great resource, as it can add context and information beyond the inspection visit's outcome.

Celebrating Best Practice Regulatory Achievements Across the Guardian Angel Carers Network

Guardian Angel Carers Founder and CEO, Christina Handasyde Dick OLY MBE, said, ‘We were founded on a series of values and intentions – delivering truly compassionate and respectful services to provide people within our local communities with control, dignity and autonomy about how they organise and receive care.

The ongoing regulatory status of each territory is a matter of great pride for us all, as we see our ambitions, which began with one branch in Chichester, transform into a UK-wide network of home care providers with shared belief systems and a dedication to the highest quality home care.’
